Republican Representative from Connecticut, Chris Shays, today on Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, speaking about Attorney General Alberto Gonzales:
“He doesn’t have much credibility. And he would do us all a favor if he stepped down and allowed the president to select someone else. You need to be truthful to Congress. You can’t be inaccurate so often. Finally, there just builds up this incredible credibility gap.”
Sorry to correct you, Congressman, but you can be inaccurate so often, it’s called lying.
Why is it that liberals, self-proclaimed proponents of free speech (that’s what I like about them the most!) refuse to even mention Stanislav Shmulevich at Pace University in New York? In case you haven’t heard, this is what happened (to the best of my knowledge):
On October 13 and again on November 21, 2006, a Koran was found in a toilet at Pace’s lower Manhattan campus. These Korans were apparently taken out of Pace’s meditation room by Shmulevich, and chucked into the toilets. It is not clear whether these were given to him or whether he stole them. He’s currently facing charges of criminal mischief and aggravated harassment, both hate crimes.
For an in-depth analysis of the charges, go here. Here’s a short summary:
For the charge of felony criminal mischief (third degree or higher), Schmulevich must have “damage[d] property of another person in an amount exceeding two hundred fifty dollars.” That’s one expensive Koran! For felony aggravated harassment (first degree), he must have damaged religious premises, or committed a second-degree aggravated harassment, with the added hate crime bonus based on intent. Maybe there was a holy shit in the holy toilet, but it seems to me the charges are ridiculous.
Conservatives refuse to help Attorney General Gonzales out on Fox News. Newt Gingrich called Gonzales’ incompetence “a liability for the president [ . . . ] but more importantly [ . . . ] for the United States of America.” Chris Wallace added, “By the way, we invited White House officials and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee to defend Attorney General Gonzales. We had no takers.”

Well, looks like his time as run out. I say we get him out of there, fast.
What are you doing here? Tired of listening to idiots on the right and left doing nothing but spitting at each other? (Think Michelle Malkin and Daily Kos). Tired of moderates simply going halfway and not really believing in anything but being moderate, and staying half-way between the left and the right?
Well then, you’re in the right place.
Pull up a chair, read some, write some, but most of all, think for yourself! Heck, as long as you don’t agree with everything I say, I might even consider taking you on as a regular contributor (free of the limitations of being compensated for your work–euch!)
